Specific Need
A Catholic House of Hospitality open for all! Our simple desire is to prepare a place where we can each be welcomed by the love of God, who fills every human heart.
As a group we noticed a visible rise of homeless people living in Atchison. While we cannot contribute directly to our city’s need for transitional housing, we saw among ourselves and our neighbors—both those with and those without houses—a common and deep need for a sense of home, a place of hospitality, where the whole person could be received in friendship.
On a weekly basis, Cana House provides breakfast and dinner to anyone who is in of food and fellowship. In addition, we host a monthly community meal at St. Joseph Church on the third Sunday of each month and Christmas day, followed by a sing-a-long.
Many unexpected and beautiful friendships have arisen out of this event that would otherwise not have happened.
