Project Concern, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that has been serving Atchison County, Kansas since 1967. We provide many services for our citizens on a daily basis; these services help with accessibility, mobility, and stability in their lives. Project Concern, Inc. services include congregate meals & social engagement at our local senior centers, "Meals on Wheels" home delivery program, and general public transportation.

Project Concern Inc. manages two senior centers in Atchison County, Kansas. These senior centers function as meals sites and safe places where seniors can socialize & enjoy activities outside the home. Meals on Wheels and Congregate Meals are available to any senior, age 60 & older, in Atchison County, Kansas, regardless of ability to pay. In the congregate meal program, daily lunch meal is served at our senior centers locations in Atchison and Effingham, five days a week. Social activities are also avaiable to participate in at our senior centers. For the "Meals on Wheels" home delivery program, daily lunch meal is delivered, five days a week, to seniors that cannot leave their homes or do not have access to town/senior center. Both of our senior nutrition programs have grown and we are serving close to 40,000 meals yearly.

Project Concern Inc. also provides general public transportation services. Currently, about 15% of our county residents do not have access to personal or private transportation. There is no taxi service available in our community and Uber is limited at best. Our general public transportation is a demand-response service operating 6 days a week. We schedule rides on a first come, first served basis and fares are charged accordingly. Transportation is available for any resident of Atchison County, Kansas and can be scheduled for a variety of purposes; some examples are doctor appointments, shopping, employment, school, and social activities. Transportation is a vital resource for members of our community!
