This is a scholarship in memory of Lori Scholz. 

Lori was passionate about many things in her life + us kids' lives. To her, success was more about our happiness & less about the external things. It didn't matter if we got a 4 year degree or if we went straight to the workforce, she was there to encourage us to follow what we love. She cared deeply about all the young adults around her. She was there to help any and all find that in themselves and achieve greatness.

That being said, she was not an enabler. She was tough on us kids. We weren't allowed to play under the bleachers at football games, we couldn't pick out a pop from the grocery store each Sunday, and if we were staying a friends house & we couldn't come home nicely, we weren't coming back. She had standards for everyone in her life & was constantly reminding us to 'Make Good Choices'. We truly believe that we are who we are because of her.

It's important to all of us that her legacy is carried on to young adults in the community through this scholarship. All three of her children went in different directions when it came to post-high school education. We understand, just as she did, that not everyone has a direct path they are sure of at 17-18 years old.

This scholarship is made for all; the ones planning on getting their 4-year degree, the trade school attendees, military members, straight to the workforce, or for the ones that aren't sure yet. We want to help the young adults, just as she would have.
