HOPE Family Therapy Inc

Goal: $35,000.00

Specific Need

Access to affordable mental health care remains a significant challenge for individuals and families in Atchison County and throughout rural Northeast Kansas. Workforce shortages, transportation barriers, and financial constraints prevent many residents from receiving timely behavioral health services. These challenges are especially acute for uninsured and underinsured individuals, children, families experiencing crisis, and residents living outside larger metropolitan areas where mental health resources are limited.

HOPE Family Therapy was established in response to these growing needs and currently serves hundreds of individuals and families each year through professional counseling and0 family therapy. Demand for care continues to outpace available resources, reflecting a broader shortage of licensed mental health professionals throughout Kansas. Without intervention, many community members face increased risk of worsening mental health conditions, family instability, school difficulties, substance misuse, and other adverse outcomes.

In addition to providing direct clinical services, HOPE Family Therapy addresses the long-term workforce shortage by training the next generation of mental health professionals through a structured internship and clinical supervision program. This innovative model expands local access to care while developing qualified clinicians who are prepared to serve rural communities.

Support from the Atchison Community Foundation's All Aboard Atchison Match Day will help ensure that residents can access affordable, high-quality mental health services regardless of their ability to pay. Community investment will strengthen both immediate access to care and the future behavioral health workforce, creating lasting benefits for individuals, families, and the overall well-being of Atchison County.
